The real winners of the 2013 Senatorial Elections have to be fans of Da King, as his presence graced us quite persistently during his daughter’s campaign. We have to keep things exciting now that Madam Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago is making an exit so I hope she keeps her promise of Tatak FPJ. I’m looking forward to hearing his movies being quoted on the senate floor. This line from Aguila rings in my ears, “Huwag mo na linlangin ang sarili mo, anak. Hindi ako ang hinahanap mo sa kabuuan ng iyong paglalakbay. Ang tunay na hinahanap mo ay kahulugan.”
What about us? What are we looking for this season?

Cramming for the elections? We hope not. Live debates have been held and candidate cards are available all over the web so by now, you should have read up on the candidates battling it out for your vote.
What we’ll do now is give you a quick guide in numbers. For starters, you should know the basics. You get to vote for 12 Senators, 1 Party List, 1 Representative, 1 Mayor, 1 Vice Mayor; check your ballot for the number of Sangguniang Panglungsod (Councilors) you’re supposed to pick. You should also search for the party list you want to vote for in the Comelec’s database to see if they haven’t been disqualified.

How many times has it happened that you casually bring up Rafael Nadal’s beautiful behind, only to have the person you’re conversing with begin a long monologue about his solid left-handed topspin? And you want to keep talking because the Spaniard is your new favorite Tumblr discovery but alas, you’re already lost in a sea of terminology. Do you just shrug and tell you friend, “Hey, I’m no sports commentator?” Of course not. You’re going to wing it and sound like you know it.

Hot On Spot: A Love Letter to Nancy Binay

Dear Nancy,
First of all, let me tell you that you’re not black. You’re actually very dark brown with a grayish tinge. You don’t use bronzer, do you? Why don’t you try some? Still, it’s really great that you haven’t gone nuts over whitening products like so many others who wish to be white. I tried papaya soap myself, but only on my elbows, knees, and singit. Maybe you should do the same. I believe that some spots on your body really need to be lighter—not kabuki or SM-salesladies’-face white but just light enough so people don’t think you’ve recently emerged from the sewer.
But enough of this talk about whitening and gray areas.

Happy 420: Anatomy of a High in 10 Songs
Four Twenty, 4:20, 420—if this numerical combination means anything to you, proceed to our carefully crafted playlist below and enjoy. Got your favorite 420 song, as well? Why, leave us a comment; we love exchanging music.
If the said numerical combination doesn’t make any sense to you, well, allow us to explain: 420 is the universal code for people who like their marijuana. Because its numerical equivalent is 4/20, April 20 has become something of a holiday for people who like their sweet leaf—think of it as Stoner Christmas. Ground zero would be 4:20 in the afternoon of April 20. Get it?
